چکیده

An advantageous aspect of telemedicine is that it can create virtual environments for collaboration between patient, physicians, and medical staft. In this paper we present a multimodal interactive environment for EEG/MEG data presentation based on a virtual reality user interface (VRUI). In addition, to visualization, the VRUI uses sonification. The proposed approach requires only a standard Web browser. Multi modal viewer presents 3D EEG topographic maps using VRML head model, animated with Java applets. Since animation on the 3D models gives an insight into spatio-temporal patterns of activity. We have applied sonification to emphasize the -temporal dimension of selected visualized scores.

Multi Modal Presentation in Virtual Telemedical Environments

Telemedicine can be used to create virtual environments for the collaboration of patient, physicians, and medical staff. Multi modal presentation is increasingly used to improve human-computer interface. In this paper we present a multimodal interactive environment for EEG/MEG data presentation based on Internet technologies and a virtual reality user interface (VRUI). In addition to visualizat...

The Connectome Viewer Toolkit: An Open Source Framework to Manage, Analyze, and Visualize Connectomes

Advanced neuroinformatics tools are required for methods of connectome mapping, analysis, and visualization. The inherent multi-modality of connectome datasets poses new challenges for data organization, integration, and sharing. We have designed and implemented the Connectome Viewer Toolkit - a set of free and extensible open source neuroimaging tools written in Python. The key components of t...

The Ontology Viewer: Facilitating Image Annotation with Ontology Terms in the CSIDx Imaging Database

In the life sciences data must be described unambiguously. We apply this principle in our multi-modal bio-imaging database in which images are stored together with comprehensive metadata. We use ontology terms to describe the semantic content of images. Ontologies are obtained from dedicated ontology repositories in the life sciences. For our users, the process of image annotation with ontology...

Multi-modal Medical Image Retrieval

Images are ubiquitous in biomedicine and the image viewers play a central role in many aspects of modern health care. Tremendous amounts of medical image data are captured and recorded in digital format during the daily clinical practice, medical research, and education (in 2009, over 117,000 images per day in the Geneva radiology department alone). Facing such an unprecedented volume of image ...

Characteristics of successfully implemented telemedical applications

BACKGROUND There has been an increased interest in the use of telemedical applications in clinical practice in recent years. Considerable effort has been invested in trials and experimental services. Yet, surprisingly few applications have continued beyond the research and development phase. The aim of this study is to explore characteristics of successfully implemented telemedical applications...
